Organic Consumers Association and allies sent a letter to Kellogg's on June 12, requesting that Kellogg's not use sugar from genetically engineered sugar beets in its products or face a consumer boycott. Kellogg's has responded, claiming that US consumers do not care if their food contains Genetically Engineered (GE) food or not. However, poll after poll have demonstrated that Americans want GE foods labeled and restricted. Monsanto Corporation's RoundUp Ready Genetically Engineered Sugar Beet is designed to withstand massive doses of toxic weed killers. Roughly half of all processed foods contain sugar from sugar beets. Monsanto's GE sugar beets will expose millions of consumers to untested and unlabeled "Franken Foods" that threaten human heath, the environment and farmers' rights everywhere. ( Background ) |

| 9:49 pm | hokay so, I'm back! Got my internet back. They had to replace the modem which, btw, was a brand new modem... because we're supposed to be on the new "turbo speed" cable. So yeah, guy gets us all set up, new modem in place, yadda yadda, gets online to check everything out like the way they always do, and says... you don't have turbo. and we're all ahh... no wonder it hasn't been any faster. So, long story short, we got the new modem, and we got the super speedy hook up. Good to go. Wonder if it'll help me to type faster and think quicker. heh Thanks Jess for posting a note RE my absence. Now, please bear with me whilst I get caught up on replies. Shhh no talkie ;) |

Apologies mostly to Jess, Connie, and Stacey, who were I think the most obviously affected, but really to everyone, since there is always a trickle down of sorts or whatever, and we're all interconnected and as one with the RP universe. er yeah.
